"Materialization: Performance as Process is an exploration in search of my identity as a designer. I endeavor to develop a unique aesthetic via the intersection of martial arts performance and my background in design-making. In the scope of this thesis, the developed aesthetic will be applied to a range of ‘products’ like furniture and fashion. The guiding research question is how might we capture something dynamic like performance in a physical medium/expression. I experiment with motion tracing, using performance as a generative process, to produce interesting 3d curvilinear compositions. As I begin to explore materializing the nuances of performance and my discipline visually into my works, there are countless potential directions I could spend the rest of my life exploring!
